Korea Rail Network Authority and Private Sector Joint Safety Inspection of 'Thaw Season Steep Slopes'
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Korea Rail Network Authority announced on the 11th that it will conduct a full inspection of 2,517 steep slopes along the railway from March 14 to April 15.
The inspection will be carried out by forming an inspection team jointly with Korea Railroad Corporation and private experts to examine ▲ the condition of slopes such as cracks and subsidence ▲ the risk of falling rocks ▲ the possibility of medium and small-scale collapses.
Along with the inspection, the Rail Network Authority plans to operate a disaster response situation room from the thawing season (February to April) through the rainy season (May to October) to respond immediately in case of risk factors.
The inspection results will be transparently disclosed on the Rail Network Authority’s website, and locations with a high risk of collapse will undergo detailed inspections and precise safety diagnoses to carry out safety measures such as repairs and reinforcements.
In preparation for the rainy season following the thawing season, safety inspections will be conducted concurrently, and follow-up measures and safety management status based on the thawing season inspection results will also be checked.
