[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] A middle school student who lured a man in his 40s for prostitution and extorted money was caught by the police after committing the same crime with another group just four days after being released.
On the 10th, the Michuhol Police Station in Incheon announced that they had booked without detention eight male and female middle school students aged 14 to 15, including A (15), on charges of joint extortion under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Violent Crimes.
A and others are accused of threatening Mr. B (44) at a motel in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, at 7:37 a.m. that day and taking 60,000 won in cash. They lured Mr. B, whom they met through a chat app, to the motel by promising to arrange prostitution and then extorted money by threatening to report him for underage prostitution.
According to the police investigation, the main culprit A, along with three other accomplices, had previously extorted 1.1 million won in cash by threatening Mr. C (49) at a motel in Michuhol-gu around midnight on the 6th, using prostitution as bait. A was urgently arrested by the police at that time but was released the same day, and committed the crime again in the same manner with another group just four days later. None of them fall under the category of juvenile offenders (criminal minors) aged 10 or older but under 14.
