"Borrowing Paintings to Hang"... SSG.com Launches Open Gallery Art Rental Sales
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] SSG.com announced on the 11th that it will start selling "rental products" that lend original works by famous domestic artists for a certain period in collaboration with 'Open Gallery,' a specialized painting rental service company.
Open Gallery is the number one company in Korea, having increased its users by more than 70% annually since it first launched its service in 2013. It holds about 40,000 original works by over 1,500 domestic and international artists.
SSG.com promoted the entry of Open Gallery reflecting the growing interest in art, especially among the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z).
Starting from the 14th, Open Gallery's products available for purchase through SSG.com include two options: painting subscription and original artwork purchase. The painting subscription service replaces artworks every three months, allowing customers to change the atmosphere of their space according to the season. The entire process from selecting the artwork to transportation, installation, and replacement is handled by professional curators and installation teams. The original artwork purchase service allows customers to buy the artist's original works as the name suggests.
To commemorate Open Gallery's entry, a special promotion will be held for one week. Customers who purchase a painting subscription will receive up to a 15% discount.
