Samsung Electronics Expands Support with Up to 4 Upgrades for One UI and OS
For Galaxy S·Z Smartphones and Tab S Series
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Samsung Electronics announced on the 10th that it will support up to four upgrades of its proprietary mobile experience, One UI, and the Android operating system (OS).
Samsung Electronics has been unveiling One UI, which integrates the Galaxy experience based on the latest Android OS every year. Since 2020, it has supported three upgrades for some Galaxy devices.
With this new policy, models eligible for up to four upgrades include the Galaxy S series: ▲S22 Ultra ▲S22 Plus (+) ▲S22 ▲S21 Ultra ▲S21+ ▲S21; the Galaxy Z series: ▲Z Fold3 ▲Z Flip3; and the S series tablets: ▲Tab S8 Ultra ▲Tab S8+ ▲Tab S8. This is based on models released or scheduled for release in Korea.
All future Galaxy S, Z, and Tab S series models, as well as some Galaxy A series models, will also be able to upgrade One UI up to four times. Additionally, security updates will be provided for up to five years. For smartwatches, including the ▲Galaxy Watch4 ▲Watch4 Classic and future watch products, One UI Watch upgrades along with new platforms will be provided for up to four years.
Continuously enhancing the Galaxy experience is part of an eco-friendly initiative. Tae-moon Roh, President of Samsung Electronics’ MX Business Division, said, "We have expanded One UI upgrade support to actively respond to changing consumer needs and contribute to building a more sustainable society. We will do our best to support not only users of the latest Galaxy devices but also existing Galaxy users so that they can enjoy the best mobile experience for as long as possible."

Meanwhile, Samsung’s new smartphones equipped with One UI 4, the three Galaxy S22 models, will be officially released in Korea on the 25th.
