Tesla Berlin Gigafactory Likely Unable to Operate Until Mid-March
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Major foreign media reported on the 9th (local time), citing Berlin-Brandenburg Broadcasting (RBB), that Tesla Motors' first European factory, the Berlin Gigafactory, will not be operational until mid-March.
Tesla had planned to start operating the Berlin Gigafactory at the end of last year, but the factory's operation has been delayed due to environmental damage controversies.
Tesla is still reportedly waiting for operational approval from the Berlin city authorities. RBB reported that the city authorities are still reviewing the safety measures of the Gigafactory.
A spokesperson for the Berlin authorities said, "We cannot specify a date for the (approval)," adding, "However, the approval process is in its final stage."
Tesla's CEO Elon Musk announced on his Twitter that he plans to visit the Gigafactory in mid-February.
