LG Electronics Develops Software Experts and Introduces 'NFT Certification'
Issued NFT Certificates to 120 Software Experts Completing Training
Accelerating Digital Transformation and Innovating 'Customer Experience'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hye-young] LG Electronics is accelerating its digital transformation by nurturing software experts and introducing non-fungible token (NFT) certificates.
LG Electronics announced on the 10th that it held an online certification ceremony for software experts and awarded certificates to 120 employees who completed the software expert training course last year. Employees who completed the training received NFT certificates instead of traditional paper or digital documents.
Considering software developers' strong interest in blockchain technology and the permanence and collectible value of NFTs, LG Electronics has introduced NFT certificates starting this year. NFTs, based on blockchain technology, assign unique values to digital assets, clearly establishing ownership.
LG Electronics operates an in-house certification program for software experts in various fields such as AI, big data, architecture, security, and coding. Employees participating in this program receive systematic training by researching and developing new technologies or carrying out work-centered projects.
LG Electronics explained that the final selected software experts are expected to lead competitive software development, performance improvement, and problem-solving, thereby enhancing the customer value provided by products and services and accelerating innovation in customer experience.
To advance this program, LG Electronics has formed partnerships with world-renowned universities and operates various training courses. It is conducting diverse projects with the University of Toronto, University of Montreal, University of Waterloo in Canada, and Carnegie Mellon University, New York University, and University of Southern California in the United States.
Meanwhile, LG Electronics utilized the distributed ledger platform ‘Hedera Hashgraph’ to issue these NFT certificates. Since a distributed ledger platform manages transaction information distributedly among all participants in the network rather than a specific central server, it offers excellent security. LG Electronics is the only home appliance company participating in the ‘Hedera Hashgraph’ governing council, researching blockchain technology.
