Jangseong-gun Expands Welfare Programs Including Infant Allowance and Basic Pension

[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, has expanded benefits of some welfare systems closely related to residents' lives starting this year.

According to the county on the 9th, the newly established 'Infant Allowance' for this year provides 300,000 KRW per child to families who care for newborns born in 2022 at home without sending them to daycare centers.

The eligibility for the child allowance, which is paid 100,000 KRW per month, has also been expanded. Until last year, it was for children under 7 years old, but the standard has been changed to 'under 8 years old.'

Child-rearing expenses for single-parent families have also been doubled from the existing 100,000 KRW per month to 200,000 KRW.

The conditions for receiving the basic pension have been relaxed.

Single households can receive the basic pension if their recognized income is 1.8 million KRW or less, and couples' households if their recognized income is 2.88 million KRW or less.

The basic pension payment amount ranges from 30,000 KRW to 307,500 KRW per month for single households and one-person recipients in couples, and from 50,000 KRW to 492,000 KRW per month when both spouses receive it simultaneously.

Also, the eligibility criteria for basic livelihood benefits have been relaxed to a monthly income of 1,536,000 KRW or less for a family of four (30% of median income), and the selection criteria for basic housing benefits have been relaxed to a monthly income of 2,355,000 KRW or less (46% of median income).

A county official said, "We are actively promoting the newly established and expanded welfare systems through village chief meetings and neighborhood newsletters," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that eligible residents are not left out of support."
