"With the Home Drinking Trend, Side Dishes Also Become Convenience Foods" Shinsegae Food's 'Olban Old-Fashioned Whole Chicken' Surpasses 800,000 Units Sold
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Shinsegae Food announced on the 9th that its snack meal kit "Olban Old-Fashioned Whole Chicken," launched in November 2020, has sold more than 50,000 units per month on average, surpassing a cumulative sales volume of 800,000 units as of last month. Additionally, targeting the "Home Drinking" crowd, the two types of "Qingdao-en Fried Dumplings," launched in collaboration with Qingdao in December last year, saw January sales increase by 83% compared to the previous month, with 50,000 packs sold within two months of release.
The company attributes the sales success of Olban Old-Fashioned Whole Chicken to its easy preparation using only an air fryer and the fact that customers can enjoy two whole chickens for around 10,000 KRW. Furthermore, the Olban Qingdao-en Fried Dumplings, launched to match the home drinking trend that pursues food pairing, are also receiving positive responses by providing a unique gourmet experience to home drinkers.
Shinsegae Food will hold a live broadcast on SSG.com’s SSG Live at 11 a.m. on the 11th, featuring three types of Olban Old-Fashioned Whole Chicken and two types of Olban Qingdao-en Fried Dumplings at special discounted prices. Customers who leave purchase verification during the live broadcast will be entered into a draw where 20 people will receive one Starbucks Americano coupon each. Among the purchasers, the top five buyers will be selected to receive the "Olban Air Fryer," a customized kitchen appliance that optimally recreates the taste of Olban’s air fryer-exclusive meal kits, as a prize.
