On the 8th, the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters announced that it held a commissioning ceremony for the medium-sized firefighting helicopter (AW139) at the Yeongam 119 Aviation Unit.
The newly commissioned medium-sized firefighting helicopter is a model manufactured by Leonardo of Italy.
It can fly over 700 km without mid-flight refueling, which is expected to be highly effective in Jeonnam, where there are many islands and mountainous areas.
In particular, it is equipped with advanced navigation systems that allow missions to be carried out at night, and various emergency medical equipment such as EMS to transport critically ill patients.
It can also perform rescue missions in mountainous areas where landing is difficult.
Equipped with helicopter hovering devices and airborne and ground collision warning systems that were not installed on previous helicopters, it can now perform maritime flights and instrument flights, expanding its mission scope and enhancing safety.
