Dong-gu Mayor Im Taek's Book Launch for 'A Special Travel Guide by a Sitting Mayor'
'The Gwangju I Loved, Wondosim Dong-gu Edition' on the 12th at 10 AM at Chosun University College of Fine Arts
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, Gwangju, will hold a publication celebration on the 12th at Chosun University Art Museum for a special travel guidebook by a sitting mayor introducing the cultural tourism resources of Dong-gu, the original downtown of Gwangju, titled "The Gwangju I Loved, Original Downtown Dong-gu Edition."
Mayor Im stated, "While the 7th elected administration focused on creating a 'city where people want to live' through urban regeneration and improving residential conditions, efforts are now needed to develop Dong-gu as a cultural tourism city representing Gwangju." He added, "This book is meaningful in that it neatly organizes the information necessary for traveling in Dong-gu, the original downtown of Gwangju."
The booklet is composed of six chapters and thirty articles: ▲ Getting Lost in the Forest of Culture ▲ Into the Time of May Gwangju ▲ Hip Streets, Stirring Hearts ▲ Invitation to G-Art ▲ Green Healing Travel Destinations ▲ Facing the Chronicle of Books.
During his tenure as a district and city council member and now as mayor, Im introduces the attractive tourist spots of Dong-gu’s original downtown, such as the National Asian Culture Complex and the May 18th Historic Sites, with a kind and affectionate perspective.
Additionally, the booklet includes notable tourism resources accompanied by photos, such as the 'House of Poet Moon Byung-ran,' restored and reborn as a new landmark during the author's term as mayor, the Seonam-dong Printing Complex revitalized by the Urban Regeneration New Deal project, Dong-gu Humanities School, and Chungjang 22.
