The South-North Hana Foundation under the Ministry of Unification announced the results of the '2021 Survey on the Actual Conditions of North Korean Defectors' on the 8th, containing this information.
The economic activity participation rate of defectors was 61.3%, slightly up from 60.1% last year, but it did not recover to the levels of 2019 (62.1%) and 2018 (64.8%) before COVID-19.
The employment rate improved slightly to 56.7% from 54.4% last year, and the unemployment rate decreased to 7.5% from 9.4% last year.
