Naju-si to Provide 100,000 Won Disaster Relief Fund to All Citizens
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] On the 7th, Naju City in Jeollanam-do announced that it will provide disaster relief funds of 100,000 KRW per person to all citizens to revitalize the local economy, which has been stagnated due to COVID-19.
This second round of disaster relief funds will be distributed in the form of the local currency, ‘Naju Sarang Gift Certificates,’ to prevent the outflow of local funds and to stimulate commercial districts.
The recipients are all citizens registered as residents in Naju City as of January 24, 2022, and foreign residents staying in the city as of that date, including permanent residents and marriage immigrants, are also eligible.
It is expected that approximately 11,7409 people will receive about 11.7 billion KRW in the second round of disaster relief funds based on the recipient count.
Earlier, on the 27th of last month, the city council of Naju approved the first supplementary budget of 902.2 billion KRW, including 11.8 billion KRW for the second disaster relief fund, at the 240th extraordinary session.
Applications can be made starting from the 14th by visiting the administrative welfare centers in the resident registration areas, following the 5-day rotation system based on the last digit of the birth year to prevent COVID-19 infection.
If the last digit of the birth year is 1 or 6, apply on Monday (14th); 2 or 7 on Tuesday; 3 or 8 on Wednesday; 4 or 9 on Thursday; and 5 or 0 on Friday.
For citizen safety and convenience, the city has pre-mailed application documents for the disaster relief funds to all approximately 59,900 households in the jurisdiction.
Eligible recipients can visit the administrative welfare centers with a pre-filled application form (on-site filling is also possible) and an ID to receive 100,000 KRW worth of Naju Sarang Gift Certificates immediately.
The Naju Sarang Gift Certificates can be used at 3,600 designated affiliated stores within the city, including traditional markets, restaurants, marts, gas stations, pharmacies, and hospitals (excluding large marts, entertainment establishments, and online shopping malls).
