Gwangju Buk-gu Initiates Online Communication Activation Amid COVID-19 Situation
Contribution to Improving Resident Civil Complaint Convenience through KakaoTalk Chatbot Service
Providing Various Information such as YouTube, SNS, Former Website Policy Events, and Efforts to Expand District Administration Participation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju City announced on the 7th that it is focusing on activating online communication to inform residents about various district news and policies.
As COVID-19 prolonged, with residents refraining from gatherings and outings, Buk-gu introduced KakaoTalk chatbot service, an AI-based conversational messenger, for the first time in Gwangju last year to provide information helpful to residents' restricted daily lives.
The chatbot, built based on inquiries residents made through the district website and phone calls, is linked to the existing Buk-gu Office KakaoTalk channel, providing information on various district affairs and answering questions, thereby contributing to improving civil service convenience.
Buk-gu Office's YouTube channel posts engaging videos such as public officials' vlogs, tourist attractions and restaurants, resident events and autonomous activities, and cultural and educational programs, delivering diverse news about Buk-gu.
Additionally, the district operates official SNS and SNS supporters, producing and distributing content tailored to different ages and groups, striving to expand resident communication, empathy, and participation in district administration.
Visitors to the Buk-gu Office website can check social distancing, COVID-19 testing and treatment guidelines, Gwangju City daily recovery support funds, and Buk-gu Life Inconvenience Reporting Center through the district's main banner.
Monthly initial consonant quizzes and weekly website policy quiz events had over 180,000 resident participants as of December last year, continuously increasing interest in district affairs.
District Chief Moon said, “We will continue to discover and utilize items that resonate with both the older generation and the MZ generation to ensure useful policies are widely known to residents.”
