COVID-19 Cases Surpass 20,000 as of 6 PM... Increase of 2,527 from Previous Day
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dong-hyun] As of 6 PM on the 5th, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases surpassed 20,000.
According to health authorities and local governments, from midnight to 6 PM on the same day, a total of 21,338 people across 17 cities and provinces nationwide were confirmed to have COVID-19. This is the highest record ever as of 6 PM. Compared to the previous record of 18,811 cases reported the day before, this is an increase of 2,527 cases.
On this day, new COVID-19 cases were reported as 9,919 (46.5%) in the metropolitan area and 11,419 (53.5%) in non-metropolitan areas. By city and province, the highest numbers were Seoul with 4,433 cases, Gyeonggi with 3,533 cases, and Incheon with 1,953 cases.
