Busan Office of Education Establishes First Elementary School in Smart City Pilot ‘Eco Delta City’
Passed Ministry of Education Central Investment Review, Scheduled to Open in March 2025 with Move-in Starting

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 3rd that the plan to establish 'Eco 5 Elementary School' in Eco Delta City recently passed the Ministry of Education's central investment review.
The Office of Education has been promoting the establishment of an elementary school in Eco Delta City, a new town planned to accommodate a total of 30,000 households and about 76,000 residents in an area of 11.77㎢ near the Nakdong River in Gangseo-gu.
Related departments and agencies have been closely consulting to allocate about 1,300 elementary school students from approximately 5,200 households expected to move in by February 2025.
On January 25, the provisional approval for the establishment of Eco 5 Elementary School was obtained at the Ministry of Education's first regular central investment review of 2022.
The Office of Education plans to build an elementary school with 43 classes (including 1 special class) on a 14,040㎡ site within Eco Delta City and open it in March 2025.
Superintendent Kim Seok-jun said, "Although the school-age population in Busan is decreasing, the number of students in the new town area of Gangseo-gu is continuously increasing," and added, "With the central investment review approval of Eco 5 Elementary School, it has become possible to allocate students according to future move-ins."
