According to the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, the Serious Accident Punishment Act, which will be enforced on the 27th, mainly stipulates that if a serious accident occurs due to violation of safety and health measures obligations, the business owner or the person responsible for management shall be subject to imprisonment for more than one year or a fine of up to 1 billion KRW.
To systematically respond to the Serious Accident Punishment Act, the Provincial Office of Education converted the existing Safety Welfare Division’s Safety Education Team into the (provisional name) Serious Accident Prevention Team and added two dedicated personnel.
The (provisional name) Serious Accident Prevention Team will be responsible for ▲ establishing and implementing a safety and health management system necessary for accident prevention and nine delegated matters under the enforcement decree ▲ establishing and implementing measures to prevent recurrence in case of an accident ▲ implementing measures related to improvements and corrections ordered by central administrative agencies and local governments according to relevant laws ▲ management measures necessary to fulfill obligations under safety and health-related laws.
