Daejeon Citizens Guaranteed Up to 20 Million KRW in Case of Safety Accidents
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City has enrolled in the ‘Daejeon Citizen Safety Insurance’ to support citizens' livelihood stability in the event of safety accidents.
According to the city on the 6th, the safety insurance has been subscribed and renewed annually since 2019, and the maximum coverage amount that citizens can receive is up to 20 million KRW.
The safety insurance targets citizens registered in Daejeon, including registered foreigners, and they are automatically enrolled in the insurance without any separate subscription procedures. Compensation can be received regardless of the accident location anywhere in Korea.
The coverage items include ▲death and aftereffects caused by explosion, fire, collapse, etc. ▲death and aftereffects caused by traffic accidents while using public transportation ▲death and aftereffects caused by gas accidents ▲drowning death ▲school zone traffic accident injury treatment costs (under 12 years old), among 12 items in total.
The insurance payout is up to 20 million KRW for death and aftereffects, and up to 10 million KRW for drowning death and injury treatment due to school zone traffic accidents. Among these, the drowning death coverage item was newly established this year.
In particular, the city pays the entire premium for the safety insurance, and even if the coverage items overlap with insurance subscribed individually, the insurance payout can still be received.
Insurance claims can be made within 3 years from the date of the accident or the date of diagnosis of aftereffects. For accidents occurring after the initial enrollment date of the Citizen Safety Insurance on December 9, 2019, claims can be submitted to the insurance companies such as Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance and the Local Finance Mutual Aid Association with supporting documents for the covered items.
