Korea Gas Corporation and Others Selected as Outstanding Institutions for Construction Safety Management Last Year

View original imageKorea Gas Corporation and Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd. received excellent grades in the safety management level evaluation for participants in construction projects last year.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 2nd the results of the 2021 safety management level evaluation for participants in public construction projects.
The safety management level evaluation is a system that assesses and discloses the safety accident prevention activities of construction project participants to encourage voluntary safety management activities. It has been implemented since 2016.
Korea Gas Corporation and Korea South-East Power were selected as excellent institutions in the client evaluation. Outstanding companies in construction project management service providers included Kyungdong Engineering, Dongbu Engineering, Suseong Engineering, Cheonma Technology Group, and Hanmaek Technology.
Highly excellent and excellent contractors included Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Construction, Dongbu Construction, DL E&C, Shindonga Construction, Joongheung Construction, GS Engineering & Construction, KR Industry, Kolon Global, Hanshin Engineering & Construction, Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction, and Hoban Industry.
The main evaluation items were safety inspection activities according to the safety management plan, safety education, accident prevention activities, and operation of safety systems.
This safety management level evaluation was conducted on 281 participants across 179 sites. To raise awareness of safety accidents, the number of construction accident fatalities was reflected in the evaluation results.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, together with the Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement, conducted safety consulting for 97 participants for the first time in October last year to understand the actual safety management capabilities of participants and improve the overall safety management system.
The Ministry also operated a pilot National Evaluation Monitoring Group composed of local university students to ensure fairness and transparency of the safety management level evaluation results.

Seo Jeong-gwan, head of the Construction Safety Division at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, "In 2022, we plan to prepare specific utilization plans such as reflecting the evaluation results in the bidding system to strengthen the enforcement of construction safety systems."
