Wando-gun Invests 20 Billion Won to Build Welfare Housing for the Elderly
Selected for Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Public Contest... 103 Housing Units Scheduled for Supply
[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, has been selected as the target site for the "Senior Welfare Housing Project," a public contest project by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in the second half of 2021.
According to the county on the 31st, senior welfare housing is public rental housing that provides rental housing and care services for the residential welfare of the elderly.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport received project proposals from local governments, including the scale of rental housing and plans for facility installation and operation, and selected the project sites after comprehensive reviews such as on-site investigations.
The project will be jointly implemented by Wando-gun and LH, with a total budget of 20 billion KRW. A total of 103 housing units will be supplied, and welfare facilities will be constructed with a total area of 1,200㎡, consisting of one basement floor and four above-ground floors.
The welfare housing will apply barrier-free designs such as threshold removal and height-adjustable washbasins, and the complex will include welfare centers and physical therapy rooms.
The project is scheduled to start detailed design in February next year, begin construction in January 2023, and be completed in January 2025.
The population aged 65 and over in Wando-gun is about 16,000, and it is expected that the senior welfare housing, equipped with affordable rents and senior-customized facilities, will contribute to improving elderly welfare.
County Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, "We will do our best to promote the project to provide seniors with a more comfortable and stable residential environment and welfare services."
