Daejeon Jangdae Designated as "Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex" Focused on Advanced Sensors
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 31st that it has approved the "Daejeon Jangdae Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex Plan."
An urban high-tech industrial complex is an industrial complex established in urban areas to foster advanced industries such as knowledge industries, cultural industries, and information and communication industries. The Daejeon Jangdae Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex is the eighth urban high-tech industrial complex designated by the government.
With the designation of the Daejeon Jangdae district, the nationally designated urban high-tech industrial complexes now total eight, including Pangyo 2, Gwangju, Incheon, Daegu, Suncheon, Cheonan, and Ulsan.
The Daejeon Jangdae Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex project involves creating an advanced sensor-centered industrial complex on 72,792㎡ in Jangdae-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. The advanced sensor industry is a core industry for data acquisition in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, led by artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT).
The "Innovation Growth Center," to be established as a pioneering project within the urban high-tech industrial complex, will be developed by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), the project implementer, together with Daejeon Metropolitan City as a space to nurture and support companies and industries related to advanced sensors.
Land compensation will begin next year, and the industrial complex is scheduled to start operations in 2025. The project budget is 103.9 billion KRW. According to the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), the creation of the industrial complex is estimated to generate an investment effect of 222.4 billion KRW and an employment effect of approximately 2,596 jobs.
