Woowa Brothers Deliver 'Warmth' to Vulnerable Groups... Customer and Social Contribution Activities
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Baedal Minjok has stepped up to deliver warm regards and heartfelt support to vulnerable groups enduring difficult times due to COVID-19 and the cold weather. At the end of this year, the sharing activities organized by Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baedal Minjok, included participation from company members and customers, adding more warmth.
Woowa Brothers announced on the 31st that 30 employees voluntarily took part in the year-end in-house volunteer activity called 'Elegant Sweat Drops,' personally preparing and delivering gifts to the elderly. The employees read the stories of elderly people received through the Songpa-gu Senior Welfare Center, selected suitable gifts, and packed them along with warm lunch boxes and postcards, which were delivered to the welfare center on the 20th.
This activity was conducted in a one-to-one matching format, and all participants reportedly felt exceptional joy and emotion. There were also notable cases where elderly recipients sent handwritten letters and return gifts to the employees who prepared the presents.
The in-house bulletin board was lively for a while with reviews and experiences shared by participants of Elegant Sweat Drops. Kim Yeon-ah, a manager working in the Customer Protection Team at Woowa Brothers, said, "It was tiring to go around looking for gifts, but I realized that the giver can also feel this much joy."
Elegant Sweat Drops is a voluntary sharing volunteer activity that has been ongoing since 2019. So far, a total of 360 employees have participated, engaging in various social activities such as providing meals to the homeless and disaster recovery efforts, addressing food-related issues in society, and supporting vulnerable groups.
Woowa Brothers is also conducting the 'Milk Check-in' activity together with customers. Milk Check-in is part of a loneliness death prevention initiative that delivers free milk every morning to the homes of elderly people living alone while checking on their well-being.
Until January 10 next year, anyone can donate 20,000 KRW (the amount to provide Milk Check-in for one elderly person for a month) via the bottom of the Baedal Minjok application or the event page. One customer who participated in the Milk Check-in donation left a comment saying, "I hope that small amounts will accumulate and greatly reach the elderly living alone."
So far, Woowa Brothers, together with customers, has delivered over 1.07 million bottles of milk to more than 2,800 households using the accumulated Milk Check-in donations totaling 854 million KRW.
