Ulsan Daewoonsan Healing Forest Re-designated as a 'Wellness Tourism Site'... 5,800 Visitors This Year, Rapid Increase in Chamsari Demand
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Daewoonsan Healing Forest in Onyang-eup, Ulju-gun, Ulsan, has been re-designated as a 'wellness tourism site' starting next year.
Ulsan City announced on the 31st that the 'National Daewoonsan Healing Forest' has been re-designated as a wellness tourism site for 2022-2023.
Wellness is a tourism project that creates added value by encompassing well-being, happiness, and fitness.
It is a business that pursues a healthy lifestyle and quality of life through nature and forest healing, healing, and meditation, and the market size is gradually expanding.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization have designated wellness tourism sites by four themes?traditional Korean medicine, healing and meditation, beauty and spa, and nature and forest healing?since 2017 in response to increasing wellness tourism demand.
In the '2022-2023 Wellness Tourism Site' evaluation, a total of 14 sites, including the 'National Daewoonsan Healing Forest,' were re-designated. Daewoonsan received the second highest number of recommendations nationwide this time.
When designated as a tourism site, support is provided for product development linked to local tourism resources, participation in overseas exhibitions, production of foreign language signboards, and other assistance to attract tourists from organizations such as the Korea Tourism Organization.
The 'National Daewoonsan Healing Forest' covers an area of 250,000㎡ and is located on the slopes of Daewoonsan, where Mongolian oak and Japanese cypress coexist.
It is equipped with facilities such as the Nanum Healing Center (health measurement room, thermal healing room), healing forest trails (Herb Scent Trail, Wind Field Healing Trail, Premium Forest Trail), and experience facilities (water healing bath, loess yard).
Additionally, 11 forest healing programs are operated under the theme of nature and forest healing.
Last year, the number of visitors reached 5,877, a 96% increase compared to 2020.
