Sejong Opens Two New Public National and Public Childcare Centers
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City will open two new public daycare centers and operate them from early next year.
The city announced on the 31st that it will open one public daycare center each in the complex community centers of Banggok-dong and Haemil-dong and begin full-scale operations.
Banggok Hana Daycare Center, with a total area of 844㎡, is equipped with childcare rooms, playrooms, and teacher's rooms, and will operate with a capacity of 97 children. The operation will be managed by the Sejong Social Service Agency.
Haemil Hana Daycare Center, with an area of 906㎡ and a capacity of 94 children, will be operated under consignment by Director Yoo Yeon-jeong.
Banggok Hana and Haemil Hana Daycare Centers were established with remodeling costs supported as part of Hana Financial Group's social contribution projects. Last year, Hana Financial Group previously supported the construction costs of Dajeong Hana Daycare Center. Both daycare centers will start enrollment in early January next year.
Hana Financial Group is promoting the ‘100th Daycare Center Project,’ which builds and donates childcare facilities nationwide to contribute to increasing the birth rate and provide a pleasant and safe childcare environment for growing children.
The city and Hana Financial Group signed an agreement in May 2018, the first of its kind nationwide, to promote the project by sharing 30% and 70% of the project costs respectively to establish public daycare centers within complex community centers.
With the opening of Banggok Hana and Haemil Hana Daycare Centers, Sejong has achieved a 50% utilization rate of public childcare services.
