As of the end of last year, the seed sales amount for surveyed companies was 650.5 billion KRW (excluding 86.2 billion KRW from public institutions). This represents a 9.9% increase from 591.9 billion KRW in 2017, continuing the growth trend since 2015. Domestic sales accounted for 86.4% (592.1 billion KRW) of the total, while export sales made up 13.4% (87.2 billion KRW). Overseas production and sales amounted to 1.2 billion KRW (0.2%). Small-scale companies with sales under 500 million KRW comprised 89.4% (1,452 companies) of the total.
