Selected for Population Policy Evaluation, Agricultural Product Marketing Awards... Record 79 Institutional Commendations

Three Consecutive Years of Top Manifesto Evaluation, Jeonnam Ranks 1st in Basic Local Government ESG Evaluation

[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do achieved a record high by receiving 79 institutional awards in comprehensive evaluations across various fields in 2021.

According to the county on the 30th, this figure increased by 15 from 64 last year, showing that Haenam-gun's administration in 2021 achieved outstanding results despite the COVID-19 crisis, which led to favorable external evaluations.

Haenam-gun received major awards in various fields this year, including being selected as the Best Institution for Rapid Local Finance Execution by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Grand Prize in the Public Sector at the Korea SNS Awards, the Korea Festival Content Grand Prize, the Best Award at the National Residents' Autonomy Expo, the Best Award at the Personnel Innovation Best Practices Competition, and the Best Evaluation for Hosting Winter and Summer Training Camps.

Additionally, it earned the SA grade for three consecutive years in the Local Government Head Pledge Evaluation conducted by the Manifesto Practice Headquarters and won two championships in the competition. It also achieved notable results in the comprehensive evaluation of the county administration, such as receiving the highest (S) grade in governance?the only county-level unit nationwide?and an excellent (A) overall grade in the ESG evaluation conducted for the first time in Korea by the ESG Happiness Economy Research Institute targeting all basic local governments nationwide.

Haenam-gun also achieved top results in major policy evaluations, including the Grand Prize in the Gwangju-Jeonnam Local Autonomy Management Awards, the Grand Prize in the Population Policy Excellent City/County Evaluation, the Grand Prize for Excellent Cases of Our Neighborhood Welfare Task Force, the Best Award in the Active Administration Best Practices Competition, the Best Award in Regional Economic Revitalization Evaluation, the Best Award in Agricultural Products Food and Horticulture Evaluation, the Best Award in Comprehensive Forest Administration Evaluation, and the Best Award in Comprehensive Livestock Policy Evaluation.

Moreover, it was the only recipient in Jeonnam to win an institutional award from the Prime Minister in the One-Stop Visit Civil Complaint Window Evaluation hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. It also earned awards in various fields such as being recognized as an excellent institution in the Hope Loan Project for local small business owners overcoming COVID-19 and being selected as the only excellent institution in Jeonnam for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s Local Love Gift Certificate program.

County Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan stated, “The record number of institutional awards is a result achieved together by public officials who have fulfilled their duties in each field of the county administration and the residents who actively cooperated with the administration. We feel great pride in these excellent results from our hard work, and next year, all residents will unite to further elevate the status of Haenam-gun.”
