Hyundai Motor Asan Plant to Temporarily Halt Production in January Next Year... Preparing for Electric Vehicle Production
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Hyundai Motor's Asan plant in Chungnam will close for four weeks starting January 3 next year to prepare for electric vehicle production.
Hyundai Motor announced on the 30th, "Production at the Asan plant will be suspended from January 3 to 28 for facility construction to produce electric vehicles."
Hyundai Motor plans to resume production at the Asan plant on February 3, after the Lunar New Year holiday. The Asan plant also halted production for four weeks last July due to electric vehicle production facility construction.
The Asan plant, with an annual production capacity of about 300,000 vehicles, currently manufactures the Sonata and Grandeur.
Hyundai Motor plans not to add a new line within the Asan plant but to partially adjust existing lines to produce both internal combustion engine vehicles and electric vehicles together.
