Triple Recovery in Production, Investment, and Consumption in Gwangju in November
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] In November, economic indicators such as production, investment, and consumption all improved in the Gwangju region.
According to the 'November 2021 Gwangju-Jeonnam Industrial Activity Trends' released on the 30th by the Honam Regional Statistics Office, local manufacturing production and shipments increased by 12.6% and 9.9%, respectively, compared to the same month last year.
Inventories increased by 18.1% compared to the same month last year, with decreases in machinery equipment, metal processing, food products, and textile products, while automobiles, rubber, plastics, and electrical equipment increased.
By industry, production increased in electronic components (19.3%), automobiles (17.9%), and rubber and plastics (14.6%), whereas tobacco (-12.3%), food products (-6.9%), and non-metallic minerals (-2.9%) decreased.
The large retail store sales index, which reflects consumer sentiment, was 100.8, up 5.9% from last year. Among these, department stores increased by 17.9%, but large discount stores decreased by 11.6%.
Construction orders, considered an investment indicator, amounted to 434 billion KRW, an increase of 166.2% compared to the same month last year, accounting for 2.8% of the 15.4829 trillion KRW in domestic construction orders received by major general construction companies.

By client, the public sector increased by 16.1% due to growth in public enterprises and local governments, while the private sector rose by 210.4% thanks to favorable conditions in construction, machinery, and equipment.
