Mirae Asset Park Hyun-joo Foundation Awards Scholarship Certificates to Overseas Exchange Students
[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] The Mirae Asset Park Hyun-joo Foundation held the 26th Overseas Exchange Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony on the 29th. Considering social distancing due to COVID-19, the ceremony was conducted via YouTube and Metaverse.
The foundation selects outstanding talents to support tuition and living expenses so that Korean university students can gain knowledge and cultural experiences in the wider world. Since its inception in 2007, a total of 6,018 university students have been dispatched to 50 countries worldwide, including the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
The foundation had suspended the selection of scholarship students for the past two years due to COVID-19 but resumed by newly selecting 200 students on the 14th. The scholarship students will be dispatched as exchange students for the spring semester of next year. Depending on the host country, scholarships of 7 million KRW for the Americas and Europe, and 5 million KRW for Asia are provided.

Lee Chae-eun, a student at Yonsei University selected as a 26th-term scholarship student, said, "I want to become a data scientist to help people and make society a better place to live." She added, "During the overseas exchange period, I expect it to be an opportunity to explore my career by taking classes in big data science and gaining various experiences."
