Digital Sexual Crime Support Center Provides Assistance for 482,524 Cases Until November
On the 23rd, Kim Kyung-sun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, visited the Dongbu Women's New Work Center in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, to inspect the COVID-19 prevention measures and held a meeting with the officials.
View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Kim Kyung-sun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, visited the Digital Sexual Crime Victim Support Center in Jung-gu, Seoul on the 30th to inspect the COVID-19 quarantine situation and encourage the staff.
The Digital Sexual Violence Victim Support Center, established in April 2018, is an institution that provides dedicated services for victims of digital sexual crimes. It offers victim counseling, support for deleting harmful videos, and connects victims with investigative, legal, and medical support agencies.
As of last month, the center has supported a total of 482,524 victims and assisted in deleting 4,420,225 harmful materials.
Starting next year, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will expand the number of regular staff at the Digital Sexual Crime Victim Support Center. The number of 'regional specialized counseling centers' aimed at strengthening community responses to digital sexual crimes and improving victim accessibility will also increase from 7 to 10.

Vice Minister Kim Kyung-sun stated, "In a situation where digital sexual crimes could worsen due to increased non-face-to-face activities after COVID-19, please make efforts on the ground to ensure victims receive prompt and tailored support without difficulty." She added, "The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will continue to strengthen support so that the ‘DiSeong Center’ can function as a comprehensive digital sexual crime response center through more meticulous victim support, including deletion assistance, investigation support, and healing and recovery service linkage."
