Gwangjin-gu Strengthens Infection Control in Elderly Care Facilities... Establishes Dedicated Task Force and Builds Infection Control System
Establishment of Dedicated Team for Elderly Care Facilities to Build a Constant Emergency Contact System and Assign Dedicated Officials per Facility for Thorough Quarantine System... - Timely Support of Quarantine Supplies such as Masks, Self-Diagnosis Kits, and Hand Sanitizers
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) has established a dedicated task force for elderly care facilities vulnerable to group infections to block the spread of COVID-19 resurgence, providing quarantine supplies and preparing a systematic quarantine response plan.
With the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and a recent surge in confirmed cases, urgent quarantine measures are needed for elderly patients in welfare facilities who have weakened immunity.
Accordingly, the district has established a thorough quarantine system for elderly welfare facilities by forming a dedicated task force for elderly care facilities, conducting proactive COVID-19 testing for welfare facility workers, and implementing on-site vaccination services.
First, by establishing the dedicated task force for elderly care facilities, an emergency contact system has been set up, and dedicated public officials are assigned to each facility to conduct daily quarantine inspection monitoring, enabling a swift response to facility quarantine needs.
In addition, based on on-site inspections, regular and thorough quarantine checks are conducted, including ▲compliance with basic quarantine rules ▲confirmation of proactive testing and self-diagnostic kit use by workers ▲tracking vaccination status of workers and users and encouraging additional vaccinations ▲verification of prohibition of contact visits and application of the quarantine pass.
Especially this month, with the surge in confirmed cases, efforts to strengthen quarantine include ▲providing KF-94 masks to 2,613 workers at 134 elderly welfare and long-term care facilities in the region ▲supplying 1,482 self-diagnostic test kits for prompt testing when abnormal symptoms appear in users with mobility difficulties ▲distributing additional hand sanitizers and sanitizing wipes for personal quarantine.
Previously, the district conducted on-site vaccination services in the first and second halves of the year for elderly individuals unable to move independently, and provided an accompaniment service where public officials escorted elderly people at day and night care centers to vaccination centers, receiving great positive feedback.
Furthermore, from March to December this year, masks, medical protective clothing, latex gloves, and other supplies have been timely distributed to workers and users of elderly welfare facilities, and regular facility disinfection is being carried out.
