The Living-Oriented Urban Regeneration Smart Technology Support Project aims to solve local problems and improve residential conditions by establishing smart services in areas already selected for and implementing the Urban Regeneration New Deal Project.
The Ministry selected Ansan and Uijeongbu in Gyeonggi Province, Taebaek in Gangwon Province, Jecheon and Cheongju in Chungbuk Province, Gongju in Chungnam Province, Gimje and Namwon in Jeonbuk Province, Hwasun in Jeonnam Province, Gimcheon in Gyeongbuk Province, Gimhae in Gyeongnam Province, and Jeju City in Jeju Province. A total of 10.56 billion KRW will be provided as project funds to the selected sites.
In Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, a smart cultural and artistic performance street will be created. This area was selected as a general neighborhood-type project site in 2018 and is currently undergoing a streetscape improvement project connecting Seoul Institute of the Arts and the Gwangdeok district along Art University Road. Smart poles equipped with cameras and speakers will be installed on the street to broadcast performance scenes in real-time on media walls, and the sound will be linked through speakers to establish a smart busking system.
In Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province, a smart clean safety zone will be established. In connection with the urban regeneration project, a space sterilization system using LED lighting with photodynamic sterilization to eliminate viruses will be installed in nearby facilities used by the elderly and vulnerable groups, providing a constant disinfection environment for the elderly who are vulnerable to infectious diseases.
In Jecheon, Chungbuk Province, a smart snow removal system will be built. Sensors that detect road surface conditions using ultrasonic detection and video analysis will be installed on steep alley slopes, and a smart snow removal system that remotely operates electric heating wires will be established to prevent pedestrian falls and vehicle accidents on icy roads.
