Democratic Peaceful Unification Advisory Council Gwangju Seo-gu Chapter Awards Scholarships to North Korean Defector Youth
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Gwangju Seo-gu Council of the National Unification Advisory Council (Chairman Lim Byeong-sik) announced on the 29th that on the 27th, it delivered scholarships to support the dreams and hopes of North Korean defector youth at the National Unification Advisory Council Seo-gu Council office on the 3rd floor of Seo-gu Office.
The scholarship ceremony was attended by the chairman of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council of the National Unification Advisory Council and advisory committee members.
It was held in compliance with phased daily recovery quarantine guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
This scholarship was raised by issuing daily beverage tickets at the ‘Peace Cafe’ event recently hosted by the Gwangju Seo-gu Council of the National Unification Advisory Council to raise funds for scholarships for North Korean defector youth.
A total of 2 million won was delivered, with 500,000 won each to four North Korean defector youths.
Lim Byeong-sik, chairman of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council of the National Unification Advisory Council, said, “We support North Korean defector youths to settle in society, feel a sense of accomplishment, and freely pursue their dreams and hopes as healthy members of society.”
