Jeonju Jungsan Park Transformed into a Garden-Style Urban Park
Jeonju City to Invest 1.5 Billion KRW by June Next Year... Establishing Ecological Experience Play Garden and Ecological Forest Garden
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonju City announced on the 29th that it plans to invest a total project cost of 1.5 billion KRW by June next year to transform Jungsan Park in Junghwasan-dong into a garden-style urban park.
Jungsan Park is used by many residents, but it is obscured by Baekjedero, which is located higher than the park site, and surrounding shops. The playground, walking paths, and other facilities are old and in need of improvement.
Accordingly, Jeonju City decided to completely renovate the park into a garden-style urban park linked with the expansion project of the Garden Culture Center to improve the park environment into a pleasant one.
First, the city will create an ecological experience play garden by installing an observatory rest area, exercise equipment, and an ecological playground in the park. It will also build an ecological forest garden, a water plaza, and a nature story garden to create a space where both children and adults can enjoy together.
In addition, Jeonju Garden Culture Center will be constructed within the park to provide a space for various education and communication related to gardens, serving as a base facility to lead the spread and popularization of garden culture.
Since March, Jeonju City has been collecting basic data through field surveys and gathering residents' opinions. After completing administrative procedures such as the announcement of the park creation plan decision (change), the detailed design will be completed by February next year, and full-scale construction is scheduled to begin in March next year.
