[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] As the Brazilian Ministry of Health announced the start of COVID-19 vaccinations for children aged 5 to 11 from January next year, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro expressed opposition to the plan.
According to CNN Brazil, the Brazilian Ministry of Health stated on the 27th that, after expert consultation, COVID-19 vaccinations for children aged 5 to 11 are expected to begin in January next year.
However, President Bolsonaro, who has consistently questioned the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, emphasized, "My daughter is 11 years old, but I clearly state that she will not receive the COVID-19 vaccine."
President Jair Bolsonaro opposes vaccination not only for children but also for adults. After testing positive for COVID-19 in July last year and isolating, he returned to work about 20 days later, claiming, "People who have had COVID-19 develop antibodies and do not need vaccination," and he continues to refuse vaccination.
