Ministry of Unification: "North Korea's Plenary Meeting to Be Held on a Large Scale Like Two Years Ago"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Ministry of Unification announced on the 28th that North Korea's Workers' Party plenary meeting, which opened the day before, is being held on a large scale similar to two years ago.
At a press briefing on the same day, a Ministry of Unification official stated, "Considering the scope of attendance disclosed by North Korea, it is judged to be held on a large scale with about 1,000 participants, similar to the plenary meeting held in December 2019."
According to the Rodong Sinmun, the 4th plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party was convened the day before, with Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of North Korea, presiding, and Central Committee members and alternate members attending. Also, officials from Central Committee departments, provincial and central agencies, guidance institutions at the provincial and county levels, key factories, enterprise officials, and officials from relevant important sectors attended as observers.

Regarding the scope of attendees, the official said, "It is considered similar to the December 2019 plenary meeting, which expanded attendance to include factory and enterprise officials," and estimated that this was to ensure that the decisions of the plenary meeting are communicated to the field level.
