[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Hanjin announced on the 28th that it will enter the pharmaceutical logistics market by partnering with Pico Innovation, a pharmaceutical logistics company.

Pico Innovation is a domestic pharmaceutical logistics company established in July last year through joint investment by member pharmaceutical companies of the Korea Pharmaceutical Cooperative. Hanjin invested 2 billion KRW as a strategic investor (SI) in Pico Innovation.

Pico Innovation plans to fully launch pharmaceutical fulfillment services together with Hanjin once the advanced automated integrated pharmaceutical logistics center under construction in the Pyeongtaek Dream Industrial Complex, Gyeonggi Province, is completed in June next year.

Hanjin will build a dedicated pharmaceutical delivery network and system to provide same-day delivery services for pharmacies, hospitals, and clinics in the metropolitan area, and operate logistics hubs in major regional cities.

Through this collaboration, the two companies plan to stably enter the domestic pharmaceutical logistics market in line with the growth of the healthcare logistics market, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, medical consumables, health functional foods, and cosmetics.

A Hanjin official said, "As the domestic pharmaceutical market size grows every year, the establishment of pharmaceutical logistics services and networks has become important. Through this agreement, we will not only stably enter the pharmaceutical logistics market but also secure capabilities for diversifying our logistics business."
