Emergency Supply Adjustment Measures for Diesel Exhaust Fluid Extended Until January Next Year... 'Online Sales' Allowed from Next Year
The 38th Interministerial Joint Response Meeting on Urea Solution Supply
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seonhee] The government has decided to extend the emergency supply and demand adjustment measures for urea and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) by one month until January 31 next year. Although the distribution situation of urea and DEF has stabilized recently, this decision was made considering that international supply and demand uncertainties still remain.
However, due to stabilization in the domestic market, restrictions on sales outlets, purchase quantities, and resale bans will end as scheduled on the 31st. Accordingly, from January 1 next year, DEF will be sold without purchase quantity limits not only at gas stations but also through online shopping malls.
Han Hoon, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, chaired the "Inter-ministerial Joint Response Meeting on DEF Supply and Demand" at the Government Seoul Office on the morning of the 28th, discussed these matters, and decided to extend the emergency supply and demand adjustment measures by one month at the Cabinet meeting.
Accordingly, obligations such as reporting production, sales, and inventory volumes, as well as monitoring, will continue until January next year. The government plans to review the overall supply and demand situation in January and consider whether to extend the measures further.
In the past two weeks, DEF production has been at about twice the average daily consumption (600,000ℓ) on weekdays. Import volumes have also continued at around 500,000ℓ on weekdays.
