Helping Small Businesses Go Online... Hyundai Motor Group's 'Gift Car On Air'
Small Business Owners Struggling to Adapt Online Amid Prolonged COVID-19 Pandemic Despite Offline Familiarity
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 28th that it will carry out the 'Gift Car On Air' campaign to support small business owners struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic in developing online sales channels.
Since 2010, the Gift Car campaign has been one of the representative social contribution activities that have contributed to solving social problems and promoting public interest by conducting campaigns using Gift Cars in various fields such as low-income and marginalized groups, youth startups, local children's centers, and blood donation.
This year's Gift Car campaign, under the name Gift Car On Air, targets small business owners going through difficult times. Due to the prolonged social distancing, small business owners desperately need to enter the online market, but many find it daunting as they are unfamiliar with the online environment.
Considering this, Hyundai Motor Group is conducting this campaign in collaboration with the social financial institution, the non-profit organization Together Making the World (Social Solidarity Bank), to support small business owners in successfully entering the online market.
The campaign operates through the 'Gift Car PR Studio,' which supports the production of online promotional content and the opening of online stores for small business owners, and the 'Gift Car Live Studio,' which helps increase sales by conducting real-time online sales broadcasts targeting small business owners recommended by the general public.
The Gift Car PR Studio is a program that provides management consulting for non-face-to-face transition and assists in opening online stores for small business owners selected through screening. Experts visit the business sites of small business owners with Starias or Carnival vehicles equipped with filming equipment to support photo and video shooting for online promotion. Any small business owner operating an offline store can apply for this campaign, and applications will be accepted until early March next year. The program will be conducted for the selected small business owners until May next year.
The Gift Car Live Studio is a program where a Mighty Truck converted into an online broadcasting studio visits small business owners selected through the social network service (SNS) participatory event 'Gift Car Our Neighborhood Recommended Store Event' to assist with sales and brand promotion through real-time online broadcasts.
The Gift Car Our Neighborhood Recommended Store Event is an event where participants upload photos and recommendation messages of neighborhood stores they want to promote on their personal SNS with mandatory hashtags. Hyundai Motor Group plans to give away tablet PCs, instant cameras, coffee gift cards, and more through a draw among event participants. The event runs until the 31st of next month, and the program will be conducted until April next year for selected small business owners.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group has produced an online video introducing the Gift Car On Air campaign and will broadcast it through various online channels such as YouTube, Naver TV, and Kakao TV starting from the 28th. A total of three episodes will be broadcast sequentially: a pre-launch episode announcing the start of the campaign, a PR Studio episode depicting the production of promotional content and the opening of online stores by small business owners, and a Live Studio episode showing real-time online sales. Notably, actor Park Jung-min, who has experience running a bookstore, appears in this video.
Along with this, events such as the 'Gift Car Small Business Owner Promotion Event,' where support messages for small business owners are shared on SNS via support cards, and the 'Video Sharing Event,' where the Gift Car On Air online video is shared on personal SNS with mandatory hashtags, will also be held.
