Launch of the Democratic Party Gwangju Social Innovation Task Force Focused on Addressing Local Issues
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The 'Gwangju Social Innovation Promotion Group,' which will centralize the human network and material resources of civil society to respond to local issues in the Gwangju area, has been launched.
The Democratic Party of Korea's Gwangju Social Innovation Promotion Group held its launching ceremony on the 27th and officially began its activities.
The launching ceremony was attended by National Assembly members Lee Yong-bin (Gwangju Gwangsan-gap), Lee Yong-seon (Seoul Yangcheon-eul), Co-Director Ha Seung-chang of the Social Innovation Promotion Group, and Gwangju Joint Election Committee Chairpersons Kim Young-hwan, Kim Tae-jin, and Chae Eun-ji.
Additionally, about 100 civil society officials participated via the video conferencing platform Zoom.
Representative Lee Yong-seon stated, “At the forefront of South Korea facing the task of great social innovation is the Social Innovation Promotion Group,” and added, “I hope the Gwangju Social Innovation Promotion Group will lead exemplary social innovation nationwide.”
Representative Lee Yong-bin said, “The protagonists of social innovation are all citizens of Gwangju,” and encouraged, “We will vigorously support the Social Innovation Promotion Group working with Lee Jae-myung.”
In the main event that followed, presentations were given on ▲ ‘Government’s Social Innovation’ by Co-Director Ha Seung-chang of the Social Innovation Promotion Group, ▲ ‘Youth and Social Innovation’ by Bae Seong-hyun, Team Leader of the Gwangju Social Innovators Network, and ▲ ‘The Necessity of the Gwangju Social Innovation Promotion Group’ by Standing Co-Director Kim Tae-jin of the Gwangju Social Innovation Promotion Group.
The Gwangju Social Innovation Promotion Group plans to respond to local social issues under the slogan, “Promoting innovation of innovation through convergence and fusion in N areas for sustainable innovative growth in Gwangju’s great transformation.”
Accordingly, it will open new forms of discussion across various fields and interests through five subcommittees: ‘Great Transformation,’ ‘Gwangju’s,’ ‘Sustainable,’ ‘Innovative Growth,’ and ‘And... N.’

Co-Director Ha Seung-chang of the Social Innovation Promotion Group said, “Through the ideas presented by the Social Innovation Promotion Group, we will demonstrate the sincerity of Lee Jae-myung’s election campaign headquarters and play a role in uniting citizens’ will for victory in the presidential election,” adding, “We will also strive to well reflect the voices of social innovation at the local level.”
