"Wireless Vacuum Cleaners, Up to 2.8 Times Difference in Continuous Usage Time"
Korea Consumer Agency, Test and Evaluation Results of 7 Products
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] The continuous usage time of cordless vacuum cleaners varies by up to 2.8 times (based on minimum mode) depending on the product. There were also significant differences in floor crevice cleaning performance among the products.
On the 27th, the Korea Consumer Agency released the results of tests and evaluations on cleaning performance, continuous usage time, battery durability, noise, and charging time for seven popular cordless vacuum cleaner models. The products tested were 'Gipfel' (model SP-003D), 'Dyson' (SV17), 'Dibea' (ALLNEW22000), 'Samsung Electronics' (VS20A957D31P), 'Xiaomi Dreame' (VTE1), 'Tefal' (TY5516KA), and 'LG Electronics' (AO9571WKT), with prices ranging from 329,000 KRW to 1,341,410 KRW.
For dust cleaning performance on hardwood floors, six products?Dyson, Dibea, Samsung Electronics, Xiaomi Dreame, Tefal, and others?were rated as relatively 'excellent.' The Gipfel product showed a relatively lower dust removal rate but was rated as 'good' since the performance difference from the 'excellent' products was not significant.
Regarding floor crevice cleaning performance, three products?Dyson, Samsung Electronics, and LG Electronics?received relatively excellent evaluations, with a large performance gap among products. Four products?Gipfel, Dibea, Xiaomi Dreame, and Tefal?were rated as 'average' because they did not remove crevice dust as effectively.
In cleaning performance for large debris of various sizes such as black rice, popped rice, and granola cereal, Dyson, Dibea, Samsung Electronics, Tefal, and LG Electronics products were relatively excellent. Xiaomi Dreame was rated 'good,' while Gipfel was rated 'average' due to relatively lower performance, including failure to remove some debris. For wall corner cleaning performance, four products?Dyson, Samsung Electronics, Xiaomi Dreame, and LG Electronics?received relatively excellent evaluations.
The continuous usage time (based on one battery) varied by product from 7 to 15 minutes in maximum mode, showing up to a 2.1 times difference, and from 29 to 80 minutes in minimum mode, showing up to a 2.8 times difference. In maximum mode, Dyson and Dibea had the longest usage times, while in minimum mode, Dyson had the longest continuous usage time. The time taken to fully charge after complete discharge showed up to a 1.9 times difference among products. Samsung Electronics had the shortest charging time at 2 hours 28 minutes, and Dibea had the longest at 4 hours 36 minutes.
Battery durability was evaluated by measuring the battery capacity reduction after 250 uses under real usage conditions compared to the initial usage time. Gipfel, Samsung Electronics, Tefal, and LG Electronics were relatively excellent. Dyson and Xiaomi Dreame were rated 'good,' and Dibea was rated 'average.'
Battery replacement costs ranged from a minimum of 29,000 KRW to a maximum of 160,000 KRW, showing up to a 5.5 times difference. Noise levels in maximum mode ranged from 80 to 83 dB, showing little difference among products, but in minimum mode, noise levels ranged from 72 to 79 dB, showing a larger difference.
