Yoon Seok-yeol 40.4%, Lee Jae-myung 39.7%... Gap Narrows from 6.4%p to 0.7%p 'Neck-and-Neck' [Realmeter]
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] A public opinion poll showed that Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, and Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, are in a neck-and-neck race within the margin of error in a multi-candidate contest for the next presidential election.
On the 27th, Realmeter conducted a survey commissioned by OhmyNews from the 19th to the 24th, targeting 3,090 people aged 18 and over nationwide. The results showed that candidate Yoon received 40.4%, down 4.0 percentage points from the previous week, while candidate Lee recorded 39.7%, up 1.7 percentage points from the previous week.
During this period, the gap in support rates between the two candidates narrowed from 6.4 percentage points to 0.7 percentage points, which is within the margin of error (±1.8 percentage points).
Following them were Ahn Cheol-soo of the People’s Party with 5.6% and Sim Sang-jung of the Justice Party with 2.9%. Those who had no preferred candidate or withheld their response accounted for 8.8%.
Regarding the question about the likelihood of winning the next presidential election, candidate Lee recorded 46.0%, up 3.2 percentage points from the previous week, while candidate Yoon recorded 44.1%, down 4.1 percentage points from the previous week.
The percentage of respondents who chose candidate Yoon as the one who would realize the values of fairness and justice was 36.7%, while 35.1% chose candidate Lee. Candidates Ahn and Sim recorded 9.1% and 7.3%, respectively.
In the party support survey, the People Power Party recorded 37.2%, and the Democratic Party of Korea recorded 32.7%. They were followed by the People’s Party with 7.9%, the Open Democratic Party with 6.4%, and the Justice Party with 3.5%. The proportion of undecided voters reached 9.7%.
Regarding President Moon Jae-in’s performance in office, positive evaluations rose 0.9 percentage points from the previous week to 41.1%. Negative evaluations fell 1.5 percentage points from the previous week to 55.3%.

This survey attempted to contact 40,697 voters aged 18 and over nationwide, with a final 3,090 respondents completing the survey, resulting in a response rate of 7.6%.
