SK Telecom Employees Eat Alternative Meat Sandwiches and Use Reusable Cups
"Practicing ESG from the Saeok Living Base Building"
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] SK Telecom is practicing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management activities in everyday life throughout its office building.
On the 27th, SK Telecom announced that it provides employees with sandwiches made from Shinsegae Food's 'Better Meat' alternative meat ham at the underground cafeteria of the SKT Tower in Euljiro, Seoul. The purpose is to promote employee health and participate in environmental protection through carbon reduction.
To reduce the use of disposable cups within the building, since September, the in-house cafe 'Happy Habit' has been serving beverages using reusable cups. An unmanned reusable cup collection machine equipped with artificial intelligence video analysis technology has also been installed in the building to enhance convenience of use.
Additionally, SK Telecom is conducting a blood donation campaign across its nationwide offices to alleviate the blood shortage. On the 15th of this month, concerned about the national blood shortage due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, SK Group proposed and held a group blood donation event at the SKT Tower, which has since been followed by related activities at branches nationwide.
In March, the office lobby was transformed into an exhibition space for artists struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. Recommended by social enterprises in the arts sector, works by emerging artists, artists with developmental disabilities, and artists affiliated with social enterprises are exhibited year-round. Exhibitions have included works by Yang Si-young (22, Level 2 developmental disability), an artist affiliated with the social enterprise 'Thisabled' supporting artists with developmental disabilities, and Hwang Bo-chul (89), who learned Hangul after turning seventy and published two poetry collections.
