Three Family Members Confirmed Omicron Positive in Pohang... Second Case After Mungyeong Couple
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jucheol In] Three more cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) Omicron variant infection have been confirmed in Gyeongbuk. This is the second Omicron infection case in Gyeongbuk following a couple in Mungyeong City.
According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 26th, a family of three undergoing home treatment in Pohang was infected with the Omicron variant.
They arrived from the United States on the 19th, underwent testing at a public health center screening clinic, and were confirmed positive the following day.
The first genomic analysis test showed a non-Delta variant infection, and after a second test, the Omicron variant was confirmed on the 25th. They are currently receiving treatment at an infectious disease specialized hospital.
Two domestic family members who greeted them from a distance on the day of arrival tested negative. No additional contacts have been identified.
Previously, on the 24th, a couple living in Mungyeong was infected with the Omicron variant after visiting Qatar, bringing the total number of Omicron variant infections to five in the province.
