View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] On the 26th, as the cold wave peaked nationwide, record low temperatures were broken in many parts of the country.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on that day, the lowest temperature in Seoul was minus 15.5 degrees Celsius, marking the coldest this winter. It was the coldest day in 41 years since the minus 16.2 degrees recorded on December 29, 1980.
Inland Gangwon Province saw morning low temperatures drop to around minus 20 degrees Celsius, while the central region, northern inland Gyeongbuk, and eastern Jeonbuk recorded around minus 15 degrees Celsius. Other areas recorded around minus 10 degrees Celsius.
Changwon City in Gyeongnam also broke its record low temperature with minus 10.3 degrees Celsius, the lowest in 16 years. Dongducheon City in Gyeonggi Province recorded minus 17.3 degrees Celsius, the second lowest ever.
Temperatures are expected to rise again from the afternoon of the 27th and return to normal levels by the 28th.

The Korea Meteorological Administration stated, "Many areas will continue to experience subzero temperatures during the day, so it is advised to refrain from outdoor activities as much as possible and to take care of your health by keeping warm."
