A Man Shivering in Underwear at the Door... Father’s Corpse Found at Home
[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] On the 24th, a day before Christmas, a man in his 20s who was shivering in the cold after his father passed away was rescued by the police.
According to the Gyeyang Police Station in Incheon on the 24th, at around 12:03 a.m., the police received a report from a neighbor that a man with an intellectual disability was shouting outside a commercial-residential building in Jakjeon-dong, Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, unable to enter his home.
When the police arrived, they found Mr. A (22), who has a level 1 intellectual disability, trembling in his underwear in front of the door, unable to open the entrance of the commercial-residential building.
The police tried to contact Mr. A’s father, Mr. B (62), by obtaining his phone number to open the door equipped with a door lock, but the phone was turned off.
Based on neighbors’ statements that Mr. B had chronic illnesses and had suddenly collapsed earlier this spring, the police, together with the fire department, forcibly opened the door of the commercial-residential building and found Mr. B deceased inside.
Mr. B’s body was in a state of decomposition and was estimated to have been left unattended for several days after death. The police believe that Mr. A, who had been left inside the house with Mr. B’s body, came outside that day but was unable to re-enter the house.
The police provided emergency treatment to Mr. A, who showed signs of hypothermia, and handed him over to the 119 emergency medical team for further treatment.
