[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The Democratic Party of Korea and the Open Democratic Party, which are discussing a merger, are reportedly in the final stages of coordinating a signing ceremony for the integration plan on the 26th.
Earlier, Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party, proposed the merger to the Open Democratic Party last month, and the Open Democratic Party set seven reform tasks, including a ban on more than three terms, as conditions for integration. The Democratic Party also expressed broad agreement with this.
The detailed matters will be coordinated by forming a working-level body called the Political Reform Special Committee. After the signing ceremony, the Democratic Party will proceed with internal procedures for the merger, and the Open Democratic Party plans to conduct a party-wide vote from the 29th to the 30th.
