Jinju City to Promote Second Half Year Student Loan Interest Support Program
Benefits of 27.22 Million KRW Provided to 447 University and Graduate Students in Jinju City
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City in Gyeongnam announced that, following the first half of the year, it has supported a total of 27.22 million KRW in student loan interest for 447 university (graduate) students in the city through the ‘University Student Loan Interest Support Project’ in the second half of the year.
The Jinju City University Student Loan Interest Support Project was launched this year to create an environment where university students can reduce their financial burden and focus on their studies.
Regardless of household income, university and graduate students who have their resident registration in Jinju City, either themselves or their parents, are eligible. From the second half of the year, not only currently enrolled students but also students on leave of absence are included in the support target. The support amount covers the interest accrued from July 1 to December 31 of this year on student loans received from the Korea Student Aid Foundation since 2016.
Jinju City transfers the support funds to the Korea Student Aid Foundation, which then repays the interest amounts individually for each eligible recipient. The details of the interest support can be checked in each individual’s loan account.
