The Democratic Party also officially denied any prior consultation between the Blue House and the party's campaign committee regarding this pardon announcement. Chief spokesperson Cho said, "Some media reports claiming that Cheol-hee Lee, Senior Secretary for Political Affairs at the Blue House, and Representative Song Young-gil consulted a few days ago are false reports," adding, "Representative Song has neither met nor spoken with Blue House officials regarding the pardon after his ligament rupture injury.
