Bando Construction Introduces Augmented and Mixed Reality Technologies at Construction Sites to Enhance Safety and Quality
The demonstration of augmented reality (AR) technology applied at Bando Construction's knowledge industry center site in Gasan-dong, Seoul
Bando Construction announced on the 24th that it has introduced augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) technologies based on 3D information modeling (BIM) to improve efficient construction management and quality enhancement at construction sites.
Based on information modeling (BIM), a 3D model is augmented onto the actual building, enabling inspection of whether complex equipment piping or structural baselines have been constructed correctly. This allows effective prediction of post-construction quality. Additionally, it provides an intuitive understanding of the working environment and tasks at the construction site, enabling more accurate and efficient quality inspections of construction.
Bando Construction has been applying information modeling (BIM) technology by utilizing IT devices without paper blueprints at existing construction sites for site management, understanding architectural shapes through 3D models, and preemptively identifying design conflicts between different construction phases.
BIM-based AR and MR technologies were pilot-utilized at residential-commercial complex sites such as Yeongjong Haneul City in Incheon, Sangbong-dong in Seoul, Sapa District in Changwon, Donong 2 District in Namyangju, as well as at the Gasan-dong Knowledge Industry Center site.
