Mercedes-Benz Korea Officially Sponsors 'Sumi Jo & I Musici Italy Tour in Korea' Concert
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Mercedes-Benz Korea announced on the 24th that it will officially sponsor the world-renowned soprano Jo Sumi and the Italian chamber orchestra ‘I Musici di Roma’ during their concert in Seoul Arts Center on the 25th and 26th.
The sponsorship of the ‘Jo Sumi & I Musici Korea Tour’ is the sixth activity of Mercedes-Benz Korea’s cultural arts sponsorship program, ‘Mercedes Selection.’
Mercedes-Benz Korea emphasized that through this program, it supports a wide range of cultural and artistic fields such as various genres of music performances and exhibitions, and furthermore, provides Mercedes-Benz customers with opportunities to experience special cultural arts befitting the best brand.
This concert marks the first collaboration between Jo Sumi, celebrating her 35th anniversary since her world stage debut, and I Musici, commemorating their 70th anniversary since their founding, and tickets sold out quickly upon release.
The program of this concert is composed of music from the ‘Baroque’ era. Jo Sumi released her first Baroque album on her 20th anniversary and performed concerts consisting solely of Baroque programs on her 25th anniversary, choosing Baroque music at special moments in her career.
In this concert, audiences can enjoy Vivaldi’s ‘The Four Seasons,’ Geminiani’s Concerto Grosso No. 12 ‘La Folia,’ Bach’s ‘Coffee Cantata,’ Handel’s opera ‘Alcina,’ and arias from Purcell’s opera ‘King Arthur,’ among others.

The world-renowned chamber orchestra performing together, I Musici, was founded in 1951 by 12 musicians from the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Italy. They made Vivaldi’s ‘The Four Seasons’ one of the most beloved classical repertoires and have sold over 200 million albums, becoming a legendary chamber orchestra. This is their 18th visit to Korea since their first performance in 1975.
